Design features for a restaurant by building contractors in Sydney

The first thing you notice in a restaurant is the layout and the décor. From the moment the customers enter to the moment they leave, their experience is impacted by the layout. Here at CD Construction Group, a building construction company based in Sydney, we understand the impact a well-designed restaurant can have on a business. We value the projects that we pursue with our clients, as we look forward to the growth of each business. Every restaurant has similar or the same operational space that must be accounted for in the layout.

The Entry and Waiting Area

The entrance of your restaurant is the main attraction for passersby. It should entice people to enter your restaurant. If you are looking for new customers, the entrance design should be a priority when designing. For dining experiences, you should consider having additional space, compared to cafes and quick services which will have minimal waiting area space.

The Dining Area

The dining area generally needs over 60% of your restaurant space, as the last thing you want is for your restaurant to feel cramped. When designing your dining area, take into consideration the amount of space you have to work with, where your tables will go, how many people you plan on hosting, and how much space you want between your tables. In addition to this, you want to consider what type of dining area you are going for: open and spacious or confined and cozy.

The Kitchen

Arguably the most important aspect of your restaurant, the well-spaced kitchen can make or break your business. Large diners need large kitchens, for chefs to efficiently move around. With so many different tasks to do as a chef, they need the working space and tools for it. Take into account the required gas lines, water lines, electrical wiring, floor drains, and ventilation. Decide whether or not you want your kitchen to be visible to customers. If so, think about the window placement.

The Bathroom

When deciding on the bathroom placement, you must consider the convenience for both your staff and customers, and plumbing. If you were to place your bathrooms next to or nearby your kitchen, you are able to cut costs by using the same waterlines. However, this may be less convenient for your customers.

Bar Counters

If you are planning on serving high-end cocktails, a bar counter is a must for your restaurant. Placing your bar counter near a wall will maximise your space, allowing for easier foot traffic.
